- Crowding my husband at the front of the line for affection and attention are Rex, a 9-year-old Golden Lab who had surgery in 2009 for a torn ACL, Red, a 15-year-old housecat with a spunky personality, Bear, the outdoor cat who loves his free-wheeling life, and a Beta fish named Fish Face who, despite my inability to cuddle or hold him, thrives in his glass environment.
